No matter how much product you buy, how many creams you apply, the look of your skin and hair is heavily determined by the food you eat. Diet can be one of the main triggers for oily skin and acne. In a similar sense, in can also lead to brittle and damaged hair, even if you don’t dye or straighten it!
Oily Foods = Oily Skin
As your body consumes sugary greasy foods, it begins to lose space for internal storage. This means that fat starts to deposit in skin, this can happen in the form of small white bumps (fat deposits) or acne. In a similar sense, the sugar, salts and fats cause your skin to over secret its natural oil (sebum), which then blocks pores to cause acne.
Unhealthy Food = Unhealthy Hair
Rather than cause an over production of sebum, food that is high in oils and sugars can cause hair to become brittle and fall out or break off easily. When hair doesn’t receive the nutrients it needs to grow properly, it becomes weak. Like your immune system, hair needs specific vitamins to grow sleek, strong, and shiny. Eating unhealthy food is almost as bad as dying or straightening your hair.
Your Body’s In Drought
Not drinking enough water leads to dry skin and hair. Don’t forget that hair and skin isn’t just about looks, they are also functional parts of your body. They protect you from infection, acting as your protective armor and the first step of your immune response. Staying hydrated and drinking plenty of water keeps you, your hair, and your skin healthy. A hydrated you, is a happy you.
So remember, if you can’t seem to treat acne problems, the issue could easily be your diet. Try eating fresh fruits and vegetables, nutritious meals, and plenty of water to keep your skin and hair looking fresh and vibrant.
